| The late Al Knapp, Fire Chief of the Town of Wethersfield, was a long time member of the Wethersfield-Rocky Hill Rotary Club. Upon his death, his family and members of the Club established a Fire Science Scholarship in his honor and memory. Unlike the Fund's regular scholarships, the Knapp Award is a one-time stipend. It is awarded to a student who is interested in pursuing a career involving some aspect of fire science. Not awarded every year, the last Knapp Scholarship was awarded in 2003.
